We are a multi sectoral coalition of organizations, individuals, and government agencies joined in our commitment to end the practice of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in New York. We recognize FGM/C as one part of many issues of gender based violence and are dedicated to its eradication. We recognize that FGM/C is part of the larger issues of gender based violence facing women and girls and share the UN Sustainable Development Goal of elimination of FGM/C by 2030. We are committed to support and to protect the over 65, 000 women and girls in New York who are threatened with or affected by FGM/C. We have joined together to create legal, socio-cultural, educational, and medical strategies to raise awareness, to prevent the practice, and to support survivors.
